Trying out the one and only Trent Kaniuga’s courses on Gumroad! His art and career are absolutely inspiration and I love all the insights he sheds on the art industry as a whole. He know so, so much and I think it’s so great that he’s willing to share a bit of that knowledge with us.

Please let me know of any other cool artists with courses on Gumroad! I would be honored to support them and look at what they have to offer!

Like always, constructive criticism is welcomed and encouraged and suggestions are great too! I hope that this video helped some of y’all out and I’m looking forward to reading your comments!

Keep going on and keep creating. I can’t wait to see what you make 🙂

  1. I wonder if he has watched your video. I just checked out understanding drawing and he says if you can’t afford the $60 email him with what you can manage. I just hope people don’t take him for granted.

  2. Trent is my cousin, I just go by Kanoog to avoid people finding my real last name on Facebook so I use my nickname people gave to me in school. Kaniuga is a Ukrainian name people mess up way to often haha. Anyways Love this video!

  3. I am enjoying this series! I agree with you about Asia Ladowska, and her Patreon for a few months was enough for me to feel that I had picked up everything I could to pick up from her. I think it's important to learn from a bunch of different artists since they all have something good to say, so that's how I've been learning! I'm not sure if the other two artists that you covered after Ladowska are a good fit for me yet. Props to you for practicing as you learned!

  4. I found one of the traps on "Understanding Drawing". I went to Vole's youtube channel and it looks like the same stuff is there for FREE. I thought : "O boy, now I will really learn how to draw". WRONG, the trap is, after watc hing doze ns and dozens of his vi d Eos (like I did) most of them 20 to 30 minutes I realized These videos are a platform for him to deliver his rambling philosophy about his learning to draw experiences. THERE IS NO HOW-TO INSTRUCTION. don't get me wr ong, he is personable, s mart, and kind of interesting. after several hours, instead of taking the videos in order, I started to skip around. I did not watch nearly all of his stuff but I found no meat in the fluff. Mithrilda, go to his youtube channel and be glad you saved $60,

  5. Great job! You raised a good point about the difficulty of transitioning from realistic proportions to exaggerated ones. I also bought one of Trent's tutorials during a sale and I'm excited to try out the things he learned through his experience in the game industry.
I love that you too are treating your channel like a journal of your artistic experiences and journey. High Five!

  6. Again super cute outfit AND content! I always want to click on your videos, they are somewhat professional and I'm surprised you don't have a big channel! I hope you'll become one and I don't want you to forget me!

  7. Hey @Mithrilda, I want to say that I really appreciate your videos. Starting with the drawabox exercises, there is a shortage of footage of people actually recording themselves doing the exercises and sharing them online. Moving on to your gumroad tuts reviews, those are so priceless as there are so many of them and good and honest reviews are so hard to find!

Though Trent gumroad videos look great! I would love to see a review of "Understanding Drawing" and how really usefull its resources. Since I'm looking for a guided experience.

All in all, you should really get more exposure, you deserve a really high volume of viewers and subscriptions because your content type is really rare and sincere.

Keep it up and thank you so much!

  8. Go for the 60 dollar one, although I’ve watched Volens YouTube videos and they seem… like a class I wouldn’t want to do myself if that makes any sense.

  9. great vid! I've been a big fan of Trent's channel for a few years and he really knows his stuff. I think you should continue the series like you intended just because I think it's helping a lot of people find if what would work for them and what would not. I've been following Volen's work for several years as well and he's gotten quite good. I don't know how helpful his course would be for you, but I'd be very interested to see it if you did a review of it. Keep it up!

  10. Hey, about the first course, “understanding drawing”, I thought it was so cool that you mentioned his course. And while I haven’t personally snagged that course yet (that price tag is a bit much for me rn, as well lol) I’ve been a fan of Volen for a while now, and will recommend him to people regularly because I think the stuff he talks about is so important. He also has some free content on his YouTube channel (just “Volen Ck”) where he give some samples of the course as well as just generally communicating his art journey, setbacks, and how he’s coped. I feel like he puts a lot of effort into his videos, and (I hope this isn’t insulting) I’ve learned a lot of what not to do, as well as what to focus on, from watching his stuff.

Anyway pitch aside, I’ve really been enjoying this series, and best of luck with all this art stuff!

  11. I like the idea of you getting the $60 course, but I donćt want it to interfere with this Gumroad series you've got goin'.
Maybe when you're done with this series you can start a second series about your experiences going through that $60 course.
